Walleye Tournament Rules
- Entry fee $40. This is an open Contest. All ages and skill levels, and amateur thru pro status are welcome. Optional: Youth Division ONLY entry fee $20 (age 12 and under at time of contest). On regular contest entries, to qualify for Youth division, please note “youth” on your entry form.
- Prize money will be based upon a minimum of 125 entries. The prize money will be prorated if there are fewer entries.
- Friday Pre fish hours 7:00 a.m. ET – 4 p.m. ET. You may fish the pre-fish day before paying your entry fee, however, your fee must be paid by 7:00 p.m. on Thursday to be eligible for the pre-fish prize. Both regular and youth contestants are eligible for the pre-fish award. A rules meeting will take place at AJ’s at 5:00 p.m. Eastern on the evening prior to the tournament. Each registered participant will receive a numbered sticker which they will be required to prominently displayed during the tournament.
- Take off is at 7 a.m.EST from the Bergland dock. All boats will be inspected prior to take off beginning at 6 a.m. Eastern at the Bergland Dock.
- Weigh in will take place from 2-5 p.m. EST on AJ’s Docks. All fish must be fresh caught & alive at registration, for both the pre-fish the Saturday Tournament. Bring a pail to the lake for transporting your catch in water. Non releasable fish will incur a .05 lb. penalty. We reserve the right to turn away any questionable entry. Be prepared to have your photo taken with your fish when you bring it in.
- Only one cash prize per entrant, excluding pre-fish award. If you qualify for 2 cash awards, we will choose the larger of the two awards. The other will be given to the next qualifying entry.
- Winners will be determined by weight. In the event of a tie, the first weighed-in will be the winner.
- AJ’s Lodge and Oven reserves the right to investigate and contest any entry.
- Anyone caught breaking the rules will be disqualified and forfeits all contest privileges. Any adult caught breaking the rules of the Youth contest may be banned from all future tournaments. Please help to teach our youth good sportsmanship!
- Michigan fishing regulations apply. Tribal contestants will temporarily suspend their tribal privileges and abide by regular state regulations for the purposes of this contest.
- Weight in will take place from 2:00-5:00 p.m. EST at AJ’s. Fish must be registered at AJ’s BY 5 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. CT. Prizes and tournament party will follow immediately.
PRIZES: Walleye: 1st = $1000 + Certificates 2nd = $500 + Certificates
3rd = $250 + Certificates 4th = $200 5th = $175
6th = $150 7th = $125 8th = $100 9th = $75 10th = $50
Perch: 1st $500 2nd: $250 Northern: 1st $500 2nd: $250
Biggest Crappie = $100
Friday Pre fish walleye = $100
Youth Division 1st Place = $100 + Ribbon 2nd Place = $50 + Ribbon 3rd Place = $25 + Ribbon
Cash prizes will be awarded, providing there is at least one qualifying entry in the class.
Youth contestant prizes to be determined.
Pre-fish Friday, fresh caught, live walleye can be entered at AJ’s until 5 p.m. ET. If you have not already entered the Tournament, you must register when you bring in your pre-fish entry in order for the perch to qualify for the pre-fish award.
10 a.m. ET Ticket sales close (Late arrivals will be allowed, if entry is secured by phone with credit or debit card, before 10 a.m. However, prize wheel will be taken down at 10 a.m.)
Saturday- up till 5 p.m. ET (4 p.m. CT) Bring your live perch, walleyes, Northern Pike, Crappie, and Sucker entries to AJ’s for registration.
Once final calculations are completed and re-checked, Cash Prizes, trophies, and ribbons, will be awarded, followed by Grand Prize drawing.

We need your: NAME and PHONE # . If you will be 12 years of age or younger at the time of the contest, please include the word “youth” with your registration. There is no additional fee to be included in the youth divisions, if you have entered the regular contest.
